Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
I still haven't had a chance to look for mine, but that hinge area is likely to be rusty on them, that's very common. also, cracking rubber is common, but If one looks any better, I will let you know, it will be priced accordingly, but less than that one. But if you want something better, I won't be offended.

Mine has some of the ribs missing. I think it's still in decent shape otherwise. I was looking a whole back at the lack of options for it.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
I found out how to restore the rubber ribbing on the accelerator pedal if anyone is interested. It involves using some of the ribbed rubber that you find in the carpet runner areas at big box stores.

Please start a thread for that, Nick, and post a link to it from here. I'm moving this from "wanted" so it's not deleted by the deleter-bots.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
Update - I’ve ordered another possibility, it’s a repop pedal that fits early (58-65) carotid ford models. Looks a lot closer dimensionally but without studs on the back. Which I will have to add. But otherwise I’m hoping it will be good! I’ll probably do another side by side comparison when it shows up on Monday

What the heck is a carotid Ford? All I found was articles about heart disease when I searched.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
I received this message from Todd Allen: I have done a number of these and still have the material- don’t remember where I got it and had a min order. Very easy to restore. Take off the stainless trim and polish it while off. Sand the rubber surface flat and even. I then cut out the ribbed material and used contact cement to adhere to the pedal. My pedal looks like new and this was done probably 10-15 yrs ago. If someone wants the new stuff great- or if interested will sell enough for a gas pedal for 10 bucks plus postage. As I remember I had to pay 60-70 bucks for this 15 yrs ago"

Jim, I don't want to hijack the OP's thread, but afterward, if Todd Allen has any left he wants to sell, I am interested. If so, please PM me his address or contact information, and thanks in advance.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
Update - here is the repop pedal. Believe it’s various ford models 58-65 including fairlane. This one is damn close. Size, shape, angle, mounting holes - all spot on. Just need to add studs.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
I’m definitly a function over fasion type person - at least I’d like to think so. Here was the result of a few holes drilled and a few quick grinder cuts. Also made a small metal plate to support the linkage as a flat & solid resting surface. I’m thinking this Franken-pedal should do the trick so I can finally hit the highway

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
It looks like the pedal in my Mercury truck, I should have looked at that.
I was at the farm and checked my parts cars, one is rusted and broken, one is rusted and seized one has rusted to the floor and can't be removed, and one has gone missing. good thing you found that repop.
