Fund Raiser for 2024

Post by Dan Szwarc »

TheLincolnForum.net needs to raise about $200 by August 15 to pay for another year of hosting.

In 2022, we swapped hosting services after MacHighway.Com's inability to provide the service our forum software requires. I labored through backups, failed restorations, and then, ultimately, a successful upgrade locally (on my home PC) that finally worked when I switched to GreenGeeks.net, our current host.

As of July 24, 2023, our unaudited forum stats are:
Total posts 359331 • Total topics 39035 • Total members 6414

So, between now and then, I invite members who find this forum worthwhile of their time and its services (still and always having been 100% ad-free) to find it in their generous souls to offset the cost of another year of hosting at GreenGeeks.

Simply send your donation through Paypal to the following email:

Click on this link and then enter the email above as the recipient.

You may donate as much or as little as you see fit, but I encourage one to consider the value you receive.

It's still 100% all me and my time alone, but the forum couldn't be what it is without member participation.

I thank everyone in advance for their gracious support in the forum's 24th year.

Sometimes I miss these

Post by RMAENV »

Admin: This was originally posted in Misceleneous.

This is for the group. Sometimes I miss some of the postings above the new discussions line in the sections. i will call them section notifications for lack of a better term. Anyway, Dan posted he needs about $200.00 to keep the site up for another year. It is posted at the top of this section for those, like me, that miss them. He has a link to PayPal for the donations (by August 15th).

With all the regular posters and users here, for repair, knowledge and/or fun, $5, $10, or $20 bucks is a bargain, even if you only use the site for entertainment. But we all know we use it for much more.

Just trying to make sure everyone saw the post and we knock out the bill ASAP.

It’s a global message. It’s at the top of EVERY forum.

There is no other way to easily put something everywhere. It will appear in “Active topics” which is just the latest posts on every forum for the last few days.

Thanks for you support and consideration.

I can offer a bit of help come turn-of-month, if still needed.

Members have donated nearly $300. I'm going to un-globalize this post, and others are welcome to donate in the future.
You have secured the forum for another year, possibly two or more (if we switch hosts again).

I thank everyone who donated. If they wish to be made public, post in this thread.

Thank you very much for the generosity! :smt052

Common practice on another forum that I am a part of is to give a small donation every time you complete a repair with assistance of forum members or from forum information/wisdom of others. Pretty fair arrangement, in my opinion.

A little late to the party, but done. Looks like there's money left over. Feel free to use mine for a beer, you deserve it! Many thanks.

If nothing else, it’s good to have a place where ads aren’t popping up every 5 seconds. Thanks for not monetizing this, Dan.
