Preferred location to read fuel pressure?

Post by MFE »

If installing a pressure gauge underhood to more easily detect a vapor lock condition, where's the ideal place to take the reading? Obviously somewhere between the fuel pump and carb, but is there any location more reliable than another?

Well, I never thought of using one for that purpose, but in my drag racing days, you wanted to mount it as close as possible to the carburetor. For vapor lock, it’ll probably be full pressure or zero, so it probably doesn’t matter. If you are running the factory air cleaner, you most likely don’t want to have to pull it off every time you want to check the pressure.

There's not that much distance between the fuel pump and carb, install it at the safest place where its not contacting anything and still readable.
