64 Jigsaw project

The 64 and later windshield trim uses the "T-Stud and clip" method. You are likely missing the clips.
They snap onto the T-Rivet and the trim snaps to the upper lip of the clip.

Google "Ford Windshield clip" and look for something like this:

Congrats and welcome to the forum. Nice car you have; lots of luck with it. While I have 63, it's not the same car so the only thing I can offer you is the master parts list. It's a listing of all the parts for years 63-69 and it lists the part numbers for each part. Comes in handy when you need to find something, so you know what years are interchangeable. Send me a PM and I'll see if I can attach it & send it to you.

By the way, where in NZ are you. Will be there this fall.

Thanks for photo of the clip Dan, near identical to my Mopar ones. My 71 Cuda had some posts snapped off so I used the clips that are screwed in. I might try drilling and securing 1 clip with the screen in. Will ask my Auto Glass mate for a good price to remove my screen otherwise.

Tony, I also think you are lucky to live in a country with a lot of gear-heads…you should be able to get a lot of help. It is surprising how many of my Model A’s parts were sourced from little shops in NZ. Plus, your drivers dominate Indianapolis racing (near to heart, and where I was born). Will you be watching Scott Dixon and Scott McLaughlin in the 500 next weekend?

and welcome. From what little I have read of your thread, it is obvious this Continental is not your first rodeo. I am looking forward to you posting more pics of your work. Keep posting all that you do. Pics of the clips you use, studs you weld on or screw in, everything. Share what you do with the rest of us. It will come in handy for someone else down the road, and it gives me something to follow other than the same ol' Facebook shorts that get posted over n over n over n over.......

I am missing the dash filler panel and the interior trim that goes between the front screen and the head liner .
I have found Both at Browne Auto Salvage parts in Texas, he wants $300 US .
What do you guys think, fare price ?

Sorry Lee for the slow reply to your question, yes I be watching the Indy 500. Go the kiwi's, I be cheering for McLaughlin. I was in Indianapolis 6 years ago picking up my Cuda project. My mate and I went and had a look at the track and the museum , had a great time.

Hi jtheye, I been a bit slack with photos and updates , will make better effort. Thanks for watching. I have an addiction , cars, I have restored my 73 challenge, 70 roadrunner, 71 cuda and nephews 65 valiant safari. My mate is in the process of bring in a 70 Coronet and I be helping him with that.

I need to be more active with my updates,

Took rear bumper off and 4 of the 6 bolts that hold corner bumberets on were rusted in, had to cut them off then had to cut a section out to the support bracket. Photo tomorrow.

Cleaned out the trunk, was a lot of glass media in the bottom of the quarter panels. Removed the tar matting and found rust hole, got it patched. Have not found any other rust so am very happy.

Have cleaned up all my SS trim and dash face.

Cleaned and pulled apart the driveshaft, have marked it so can put it back together in correct position. New u joints on there way.

Brake booster out and nearly ready for paint.

Steering column looking good, have put a shaft collar in to reduce shaft wobble.

Got rear of car in the air so I can remove the road grime. Will try applying more under seal or paint.

Fuel tank looks good, need to make the filler tube tool. Was surprised to see the tank strap’s missing. I will attempt to make these.
Am keen to remove the diff but am getting ahead of my self. Have bad habit of starting too many jobs.

Rear drums look great.

I have an addiction, love doing up cars. My current and previous jobs allowed me the time to indulge my interest in cars.

Got the fuel tank out today, the filler tube was easy to get out as the gasket is missing. Put on my list of parts to buy..

Tank in great shape apart from 2 small holes in the bottom. Tank is bone dry and no sign of fuel for years, will fill with steam or water and weld the holes.

Good luck on the welding; hopefully that will avert having to buy a replacement tank.

I noticed your pictures of the steering column being out. Have you examined the lower shift tube bushing? That piece was notorious for deteriorating and causing many an Anton-Yelchin incident with '64 and '65 cars. If you have even the slightest doubt about its condition (if it's even still there), get a new one; you don't want your car running off on its own because the shifter took itself out of PARK. I mean, if the engine is off, then the parking brake could prevent that from happening; but the real solution is to make sure that bushing is there and in good shape.
