1962 Stearing box spline
Hey everyone I am in the process of trying to get a universal steering joint for my new flaming river tilt wheel. The info I found was the input shaft is 3/4 36 spline. So I ordered a 3/4-36 Spline To 1" DD. The 1 DD works to the Flaming river shaft but the 3/4 spline side will not go on to the shaft. I counted the spins and count 36. Am I missing something. Any info would be appreciated on what size of universal steering joint I would need to fit the steering shaft input. Thanks

Isn't there a tiny key in the spline, a place where the splines are uneven?

Re: 1962 Stearing box spline
So just got of phone with Lares and they said its a 3/4 inch 31 spline input shaft. Bogeson who makes great u joints said they don't make a 31 spline and don't know anyone who does make one that would have be a 31 spline and 1inch DD on the other. Any ideas on what to do or where to look for this. thanks for all your help. I recounted the splines and yes it 31 .

Couldn't you fust weld a piece of 1" DD steering shaft to the back of the steering box side of the factory rag joint then use a DD to DD universal joint?

Re: 1962 Stearing box spline
I found out there are adapters out there, so I am rebuilding my original rag joint adapter that connects to the input shaft and attaching it to the rebuilt rag join. That will be connected to a 1 inch DD that will connect to the tilt steering wheel shaft. That should work
I wish I had tools to weld or make my restoration easier but I am doing the old fashion way with a jack, jack stands and basic tool. Taking years to accomplish. Next time I will buy already restored. thanks for everyone help.
