Passenger Side Mirror "Tape"?

Post by Stuart M. Cohen »

So in one of my cars, the passenger side mirror has a small chip. I've been told this will cause an issue when I get the car inspected. Is there such a thing as "mirror tape" that I can cut to fit the shape of the mirror to cover the chip but still keep the mirror working? I'd hate to have to replace the entire thing....

I tried googleing (googling?) it but all I get is tape to hang mirrors.....

Thanks in advance!

Go to a glass shop, they can cut a new mirror glass pretty cheap to replace it with or put over the old one. You can also buy mirror stuff to cut yourself but I've never seen that work out too good.

Passenger side might not be an issue with the chip depending on how picky the inspection is. Some places care about driver side only while others figure if it has it it needs to be good.

Stu, it's time you moved to Maine. On inspection day I bring breakfast sandwiches to the crew. Easy peasy. Wayne

You could always use HVAC foil tape or get historic tags and bypass the yearly inspection!
