need brake proportioning value, '88 T C

Post by Gerald F. Chase »

Wow... I hate to have to consider throwing away my '88 Town Car.. just 'cause I haven't been able to find a brake proportioning valve: EOAZ2B257A

I would think that since it's likely that this item was used on most, if not all, 'Panther platforms' -- RWD Crown Vics, Grand Marq., as well as 'Townies', that it would not be so scarce. It is, I admit, 30 years old...... which I'm afraid means that it's not old enough to be an antique... but too old for daily drivers.

Any suggestions?

A universal one. Either adjustable or non-adjustable.

BTW that part number isn't a Lincoln number. So likely that part has Ford applications as well as Lincoln applications.

I’d just use a PV2 generic if I couldn’t find one. Might require replumbing, though.

Dan, Since neither I nor my mechanic could find a replacement proportioning valve, he dismounted it from the factory position, where it's almost impossible to get a proper wrench on it. He discovered that some previous "mechanic" had cross-threaded it. My mechanic made it work again via using what he called "an oversize fitting", completed the plumbing, and it worked... most reliably, which is the critical thing. Wunderbar!
