Hi folks,
Lincolns are well known for their suicide doors, and my '79 Continental is just begging for them.
Is this is a well known mod or is this uncharted territory?
Thanks!

Re: Suicide Doors on 79 Continental?
There's a thread here of someone doing them. I'd have to search for it.
It's pretty much a custom job. He might mention which hinges he uses in it.
Personally, I agree that you should do it, but it's not for the weak-welded.

Is this something you have the skills to do yourself and feel confident about? You could easily compromise the structural integrity and crashwothiness of the car.

As Dan has posted I'm installing a set of rear door hinges on my 77. There is a lot of custom fab work and if you have to hire this out be ready to pay!foul_owl wrote:Hi folks,

I agree that it needs to be done right to prevent any unpleasant side-effects in a collision, but such a job wouldn't necessarily compromise the overall integrity. That year is body-on-frame configuration, not unitized. The mod will affect the body but not the frame--kind of like chopping the top. But it is an involved job.
However, it's a job I personally would love to see done.
