Re: The original Authenticity Manual for the Mark II

This area is reserved for the ever growing need for technical documentation for our Lincolns. It is where scans and pics of schematics, wiring diagrams, vacuum diagrams, technical bulletins, and all similar documentation is made available to members of TheLincolnForum.Net. The best part is it is all free. Original owners copyright is assumed as this information is only provided as a reference for members.

Re: The original Authenticity Manual for the Mark II

Post by Barry Wolk »

The friend that is having his '56 Mark II refurbished in my garage gave me the "Holy Grail" of Mark II lore. It's the ultimate authenticity manual, a build manual that went to the top people in the Continental Division. It's dated 1954 and production did start until May of 1955, so things were pretty much etched in stone.

This gives you some real insight about how things were done on what was America's highest quality and most expensive car of the time. I've scanned the first 50 pages. Note one of the famous signatures on the first page. GB was not a designer. He was in charge of body engineering and model making. His job was to interpret what the designers wanted in steel.

I had an opportunity to make some money off selling copies to those interested, but I've decided to open source it, and I'm starting here. If there's an interest I'll post all 109 pages of engineering delight.

This is awesome.

For those interested, I will be posting a link to the PDF in my DropBox folder later tonight.

It's not an authenticity manual, per se, but an early (1954!) specification manual for some kind of engineering review.

Definitely a great find and a valuable document from a historical standpoint.

Pretty cool thing to have, even if you don't have a Mark II.

Thanks, guys.

Barry,

I PM'd you my e-mail. Could you e-mail me the .pdf file. When I download from here on this computer it says the file is too big to scan for viruses. Won't let me save file.

Check that request Barry. I was able to download on another one of my computers will move it over from there either through my network or a flash drive.

Thanks again Barry. :smt006

Here's a teaser. A complete set of cross-section drawings for the clamshell-doored Mark II for 1958. I also have the cross section drawings of the Mark II from 1954. The dates seem to coincide with this manual.

Should I post them here or in a separate thread?

You can post them here. I'll edit the title to be something like rare Mark II documentation.

It's easier just to make a PDF using preview. Arrange in groups of 10-15 pages then combine.
