Rockford Meet, 17-21 Sep 2014

I plan on showing up for show day. The other days events I have already seen several times. However, I will not be there with the Givenchy. After driving it to Detroit in June, now the damn thing won't go 10 miles from the house without dying out. And I am tired of sinking money into it trying to fix it for this year.

I know what you mean about our old cars not wanting to go very far without a hiccup. Mine will have to go from the garage to the trailer, and from the trailer to the show field. I am sure it will go that far LOL! Not sure if it would have made the 1100 mile trip without getting persnickety, so that is why I am trailering it.

My plans have changed a bit. I will be leaving on Sunday morning, and arriving on Tuesday evening. I want to duck into Chicago for most of the day on Wednesday, but will be back at supper time to the hotel when things start to get going.

Doug and I are going to meet up at the Grass Lake Rest Area 818 located on I-94 Westbound in Michigan in Jackson Country.

From there it's about 5.5 hours to the Hotel in Rockford, but I plan on taking a less-direct route and up to 7 hours as I am in no hurry to get there.

If Doug and I want to get to Rockford about 3PM local time and avoid Chicago traffic as much as possible without diverting into Oklahoma, we have to leave the rest area in Michigan around 9AM EDT on Thursday, September 18.

I guess others are welcome to caravan with us, but beware... I drive pretty slow and take frequent pee breaks.

Chris, enjoy my fair city and I'll see you tomorrow night. I'm trailering both my '61 and my '56 (Exibition Class) so it's going to be a busy day.......but a fun one!
What are you going to do in the city??? If you're looking for some ideas, let me know. If you've never been here before I'd recommend the archectural boat tour and do the open air bus tour. Yea, a little cheesy but if you have only one day, its perfect.
