max miles per gallon?

Any Lincoln fact related question can be posted here. Questions such as how many Contintenal convertibles were produced in MY1965? How much was the Town Car option in 1969? What size of tire was standard on a 1953 Premiere? or Does the Mark II retractible prototype still exist?

I averaged 16 mpg on the 800 mile round trip from Sacramento to Ventura and back for the WNM last May. I put nothing but 91 octane super unleaded in it.

I have owned two 1977's with 460. The first one my highest was 19mpg highway. That was when it was approximately 8 years old. 13 years later when it finally rusted to pieces, I was averaging 16mpg highway.

My second and current car gets 10 in town and 13 highway. Not so good.

Both on unleaded 87 gas. No other additives.

I can get about 16.5-17.0 mpg with my 76 Mark IV. This is with 91 octane gas containing at least 10% ethanol. If I could get ethanol free gas here in Colorado (which I can't this time of the year) I would expect to see 18.5 - 19 mpg, maybe more.

I just got a hair under 15mpg on a return trip from Boston (to the Catskills) last weekend. Regular gas in a 1977 Lincoln Continental (with the Town Car option package  )...

Averaged around 18 mpg from New York (place of purchase) to Chicago this summer. 1976 Mark IV Cartier with an alleged 30K on the odometer. The mpg surprised the heck out of me. Didn't use any oil either.

Just a note - my 1976 Price Book shows an EPA of 12/16 for 460 Lincolns and Mercurys and 13/17 for those with 400s.

If you maintain your car it should not be noticeably different from when it was just run in.

Frankenstein doesn't have that engine, but I have to throw this in anyway: net average mpg of 14, on 87 octane, with no additives. And a 462 is supposed to deliver no better than 12 on a good day with gasohol-free premium!

Yeah, baby!

Manifolds and other internals for 2 and 4-barrel engines differed substantially!
Also, if reducing consumption is a priority, why not just drive with less use of WOT???? The secondaries come on with wide throttle opening. This way, when you NEED giddy-up'n'go, its there.
