LINCOLN-MERCURY dealers of The Sixties

Any Lincoln fact related question can be posted here. Questions such as how many Contintenal convertibles were produced in MY1965? How much was the Town Car option in 1969? What size of tire was standard on a 1953 Premiere? or Does the Mark II retractible prototype still exist?

The ad says "only Mercury has an exclusive V8 history". I take it this means up through 1955 they never offered anything other than a V8. (Don't have my books with me, but this sounds like it could be true) Whereas other cars in that price range Olds, Pontiac, etc. had straight 8's, sixes, etc. But everyone that was going to get a V8 had one by 1955.

I don't have that answer, but in 1979 there was a total of 6400 Ford and Lincoln/Mercury dealerships.
And if I were to spend some hours I bet I could come up with a LM number for 1979.
It is likely to be in the 2500 to 3000 range. Which would include dual dealerships.
