1966 Lincoln Continental C Pillar Emblem???
Hello Members
As I familiarize myself with my 66 LC four door, i have observed another “quirk”.
It appears some previous owner added 67 C pillar to mbpems to my 66???
Correct me if I am wrong but 66 cars dis NOT have any Lincoln emblems on the C pillars. Mine has had them added.
Thanks!

Interesting. I wonder if deleting that emblem was a running change in 66? Is yours an early production?
Here’s another 66 with the emblem.

‘66 did not have a C-pillar star from the factory

I cannot recall a styling motif, where the manufacturer dropped it for one year, and then brought it back again the following year.
Good trivia question.

Just an observation I made, the roof star is exactly the same on my 62, 63, and 68 sedans, even the casting marks inside them. The 66 fender stars are the same as that used on 63-65 trunks, and 66-67 convertible trunk lids, only rotated.

Re: 1966 Lincoln Continental C Pillar Emblem???
Exactly.
1966 was the only year that the C-pillars of the fixed-top cars did not have any decorations. Tacking them on is relatively easy, though it does involve drilling holes and then sealing them after the emblem is installed. I had occasionally thought of fitting salvaged C-pillar stars from '58; but the gold hue would look out of place. I do, however, have a thought of either painting or having embroidered that style of emblem into the top of the 'vert the world still needs to give to me. That'd be cool, I think.
Side note: For the '79 Electra I had a long time ago, I attached reproduced script-font nameplates from '67, having gotten permission from the owner of one to press a clay molding of the nameplate, which served as my reproduction tool. The new script emblems went onto the C-pillars next to the shield emblems already in place. I also molded nameplates for the front grille and the trunk lid, just so that way people would know what kind of Buick that car was supposed to be (and no longer snark with the line "Limited to what?"). Those made the car look so much cooler.
