faded cloth interior

Post by 1979lincolnfan »

My 1979 mark 5 collectors series has cloth interior, which for the most part is in great condition, except for across the top of the back seat has been faded out by sun exposure. Is the a dye or spray that would be close to the "Kasman 2" original dark blue?

Talk to your local car re-upholsterer. Dying fabric is possible, from what I have heard, but you may have to dye EVERYTHING or nothing will match.

The velour of 70s Lincolns is one thing I dearly miss in modern cars. It’s better than leather. Leather sucks. Even the great 70s leather.

Thanks. It would be tough to match everything. The good upholstery shops around here are booking into next year at this point. It's one of those jobs to do "one day" Still enjoy the car the way it is.
