Windlace
So I've ordered the leather for my Lincoln from Jim Wallace. The guy who's going to take care of installing it asked me to get the windlace (picture attached). Jim's options don't come close colorwise and the option my interior guy has are better, but not what I have. I reached out to Steve Oulette (from Baker's, who did the inital resto 20 years ago) and he told me there were limited options back then, and doesn't have any contacts. So I'm looking for ideas for both the regular windlace (on the outside) and the wire windlace (on the inside).
Any thoughts other than him trying to dye what he can get?
Worse case scenario, I think I can have the interior guy dye something to match that looks good with the car.

20 years?!
One more fact that makes me feel old. I remember when you had the restoration done! Then again, I’ve had my 61 for 30 years…

Re: Windlace
It's time to find dyeing options for the windlace! Everybody put on your thinking caps.
I think the material is nylon and my guess is it's specifically Nylon 66. Nylon is plastic. What can be used to dye nylon that isn't paint that flakes off?
There must be dyes that stick to nylon fabric. Anybody work in the fabric dye industry?

These guides are usually overly simplified, but it's a start.

Re: Windlace
It needs to be an acid-base dye to bond to the surface of nylon. Here’s one source (there are probably many) to get started, and includes instructions:

Re: Windlace
Youve mentioned one more thing I need to add to my parts list but my interior is black which hopefully makes it easier to get.

Black is easy. It's colors that are hard.

Re: Windlace
Well this doesn't answer the question about dye, but for some reason my car didn't need the windlace. Mine is a 64 and when I bought the head liner, the interior guy also had me spend over $100 for windlace. I got all the windlace back because my car had some kind of wood backing that the edges where stapled too. Am I just the odd duck here? Next question would be "anybody want to buy some windlace?"
