Re: Modern radio conversion review - Aurora Design
I think you have a 66. In this thread is the 66 wiring diagram

Thanks action. In my post, I said it was a '66. I didn't see the radio in that wiring diagram.

You are correct. And I thought that was a complete diagram.
I have one at home or the shop manual should have it. I will post late today when I get back.

‘67 should be the same. Here they are:
Red: Power antenna up/down
Yellow: Hot with ignition
Green: power antenna up/down
Black: Hot with ignition
Blue/red: Illumination
The other three conductor plug goes to the fader switch under the dash panel that feeds the four speakers

Re: Modern radio conversion review - Aurora Design
I've had an 67 AMC vertical style Am/Fm converted to Aurora by Gary and it came out fine. He guts the radio, only keeping the controls and the mechanical tuning components so that the radio will have the use of the preset pushbuttons and the manual tuning knob. Electronically it works great. I got the Bluetooth option to be able to use my phone but frankly it's too awkward to use while driving. For us basic guys and gals i would say to skip the options other than the line input. The Aurora is a single, small circuit board that has everything on it. It's a remarkable design !

Only thing I use the Bluetooth for is streaming music from my phone, otherwise, it goes unused. I didn’t even install the microphone. Just doesn’t belong in a ‘67 Lincoln.

Re: Modern radio conversion review - Aurora Design
The microphone in mine is built into the radio. It seemed to work well for the couple of times I used the hands free for the phone, but it was so awkward to manipulate the controls to answer and hang up the phone that I'm not likely to use that feature again.

Bumpity. Happy customer of yet another radio converted. I sent out the original radio for my '71 Mark III and got it back and installed recently. Sounds awesome and functions perfectly.

Re: Modern radio conversion review - Aurora Design
Ya know, even though I have no need for this kind of service, I am really impressed with it from what I've seen. Somebody took an idea and made it real. I had once had the idea of taking old radios and making them newer, but it was not an idea which I held onto seriously. So nice to see that somebody had the same idea and made it happen. That is the sort of thing that really should not get lost in time; I do hope Aurora has ideas to carry on when its current group of operators are no longer around.
