So what would be the original luster level on this??

Post by John Mc »

Guys, I know I'm splitting hairs here but what would be the correct finish for the "camera case" dashboard trim on my 1961 Sedan? From what I can determine, it was originally a gloss sort of what the wood veneer would look like, where the painted metal is more of a satin. WHich would be correct? My is not only faded, but the sun has turned it greenish! :o

By "camera case", do you mean glove box?

If it's the same as the 63, check out my website.

Thanks Stu, great shots of your car. I did figure it out, sort of a soft flat to satin look. I'm good to go now.
Seeing you next week???

John, try a mild paint cleaner like Meguires fine cut cleaner to bring the color back. It may give it more gloss than you want, but in a couple of months, it will be back to the gloss that you want.

Thank Tom but the sun turned the beautiful soft beige green! I ended up using a matte spray the matched the original perfectly
