Stains on vinyl roof

Post by yellowlincoln »

My 72 mk iv has stains on the vinyl roof that seem to be difficult to remove. Any suggestions on how to clean the Cavalry Twill material?

Soap and water works best. I would avoid any chemicals.

The soap and water and gently washing it works best because you may not want to clean it TOO much, then youll have a bright spot, which will force you to clean the whole top, and last time I checked, they are big!

Hope it comes out nice,

If the car soap and water do not work, try a convertible top cleaner. I used Maguires convertible top cleaner with good results on a top that had not been cleaned in over 30 years. 303 top cleaner is also very good. Use a soft bristle brush and allow the cleaner time to work. Keep the area wet while allowing the cleaner to soak the stain out.

It may take several cleanings to remove the stains. If they do not come out, have a professional; detailer try to clean it.

Hey fellows. I had good luck using comet cleaner with a soft brush and lots of water. Used it on my Impala convert and Cammy's white LCC top. I would spot check to make sure it doesn't bleach out any color if not on a white top. Bon Ami might be better without bleach if you don't have set stains on a white top.

Actually I have a green top so I don't think that Comet is a good idea.

Tomo, what kind of brush do you use?

I used a natural bristle brush, similar in shape to a wheel brush. I have had the brush for over 40 years, so I cannot give you a source. Here are 2 sites that have body wash brushes.

Amazon may have similar brushes for sale.
