Re: Dash Tape
All it is is scotch tape. It is so old it turns brown and falls off.

Re: Looking for BOOT (ACCELERATOR SHAFT): C1VV 9A873-B....
Those clutch rod boots look long enough to make the curve. I also just thought of the Pontiac accelerator that had a similar set up of the Lincoln with an angled boot. This could be another cheaper option. As I remember the base of the Lincoln is pretty unique and I think is more square than round. ...

Re: Looking for BOOT (ACCELERATOR SHAFT): C1VV 9A873-B....
Thunderbird is similar, always a straight 90 degree relationship. The thing about the Lincoln is the hidden accelerator linkage under the pedal that makes the shaft come out so low on the firewall. Re: Looking for BOOT (ACCELERATOR SHAFT): C1VV 9A873-B....
I did look into the Mustang part since I knew they were cheaper but the design is quite different. I believe the throw of the throttle linkage is much farther on the Lincoln so the boot is an accordion style that was about 6 inches long as I remember. The mustang has very few folds for a short trave...

Re: Looking for BOOT (ACCELERATOR SHAFT): C1VV 9A873-B....
I bought a new accelerator boot for my car a number of years ago. I just checked and Lincoln land and they have them available, they are not cheap and they are special order at $75, but there are few options. When I worked on my car I tried looking up other cars to see if any would fit but did not h...

Re: What Foam seal to use under windshield trim?
Interesting, I guess I just saw all the sealant and the mess and assumed it was just the rubber seal. I am with you, a glass shop would be the place to go to ask questions on this material.

Re: What Foam seal to use under windshield trim?
You want to post a picture? I watched a glass guy remove the windshield from my parts car and never remember seeing any foam, just the rubber seal and lots of sealant.

Re: Looking for BOOT (ACCELERATOR SHAFT): C1VV 9A873-B....
I bought most of my parts from Baker's Auto. Some had to come from Classique since they were the only ones that carried the part- they are a last resort vendor since they suck.I'll call around tomorrow. Do you remember which one you called that had the parts in stock? Thanks again.

Did you call the usual suspects? Not everything they have is online. I bought mine from one of them.

I like most of the choices but a 1995 chev Impala? You have got to be kidding, that IMO was one of the most beastly, ugliest cars ever made.

Re: Removing bumpers and trim from my '61
The most common mistake when removing the back bumper is forgetting to disconnect the license plate light wire BEFORE You remove the bumper bolts. When that big bumper comes down the wiring gets ripped off and breaks.

Re: 1967 Convertible Top Wiring Harnesses
I would agree, that would quite a feat. You could bypass the old wiring and put in a new harness covering with that plastic flexible wiring loom covering and zip tie it to the undersides of the bows until the day the top is replaced.

Re: Clock restoration
any chance you have any more details? i assume you didnt just dunk the clock in paint thinner. Actually I did! Remove the wiring solenoid that activates the winding mechanism first, and avoid the thinner touching the faceplate (to keep the paint on the numbers intact). Gently brush with a sma...
