Re: '59 Mark IV - just sharing for kicks
Thanks! Yes, everything is pretty tidy on it, save the saggy dash pad. All 7 power windows work, which is good b/c the original owner didn’t opt for A/C!

'59 Mark IV - just sharing for kicks
Picked this one up about a year ago. Not sure how long its staying around, but enjoying tinkering with it for the time being.

Re: My Lincoln Continental Town Car 1980 (From France)
I have not been on this forum in quite some time, and am glad to see you still have this car. I wish the early 1980s Panthers would get more love than they do.

Re: Tests for a weak ignition or faulty fuel pump?
Just curious - when you go to start, what procedure do you use? I floor the gas once, then turn the key without my foot on the gas (on a cold start). This seems to produce the shortest crank time. Any other sequence (holding halfway while turning key, etc.) seems to produce longer crank times. I hav...

the proper way to merge in a last-gen Continental
The sound of the DOHC 4.6 in this video makes me want one. Hmmmm.

Re: Purchasing a very clean 1987 Continental with 75,000
So, would a 1987 have r-12? From the factory, yes. So, if it's never been converted and running on the original compressor, then it is still R-12. Any older car I've ever had that was converted had a conversion "sticker" on or near the replacement compressor that verified that it was runn...

Re: Purchasing a very clean 1987 Continental with 75,000
R-12 is the old stuff, R134a is the new stuff. If memory serves, R134a was required of all new vehicles around the 1994 model year.Doug Ford wrote:I didn't know they were using R-12 in 87.

Re: 89 Towncar
No sir, this group is mostly into the '60s cars, followed up by the '70s cars. Try http://www.grandmarq.net . They are mostly '80s Panthers. Based on the 1 pic above and your description, I wouldn't say more than $1K. For something that's been sitting for so long, outside, it could take much more th...

Re: Strange dying out
About 15 years ago, my Mark V (460) was doing this exact same thing.....the hotter the engine, the more likely it was to stall. It would restart if I waited a few minutes. We thought it was the ignition module, so we replaced it. Wrong. So, then we replaced the fuel pump.....and not another issue si...

Re: '78 Lincoln Mark V Diamond Jubilee Article
Rejuvenating this post, since I just now came across the article myself on Hemmings. Even if you've already read it, it's worth another look. The car hobby is such an emotional one. Here's an updated link (above is dead): http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/03/10/family-jewel-this-long-lost-linc...

After all of the post-wreck damage that has potentially been incurred, I'm not sure that I would want it back.....sentimental attachment or not.

Re: de-pollened Panther
Thanks! I have various pics I've taken over the past couple years of it, but this is the only one I snapped last evening. It has "Midnight Blue" leather. It's a nice color given today's blah interior color choices on most new vehicles.
