Re: 1966 Conv rear deck/bumper rubber weatherstrip
When I replaced the trunk lid to bumper rubber weatherstrip on my ‘67 convertible the bumper was off the car for re-chroming. With the bumper off I put the trunk lid in the fully upright position and I gained access from inside the trunk. In some places I used a short L-shaped offset Phillips screwd...

Re: 1967 Lincoln Continental stalling when warm
When this happened on my ‘67 it turned out to be a pin hole in one of the floats. When cold the engine would start fine and run well until about 10 minutes of driving, once the engine warmed up it would begin to stumble and stall because the carburetor was flooding the engine once the float filled u...

Re: 1967 Top hydraulic cylinders - this doesn't look right ???
Good luck repairing the top mechanism. I like the color and it’s rarely seen. Your car is actually a 1966 based upon the emblem on the front fender and the pattern used for the upholstery on the interior. That is unless someone started with a 1967 and swapped the interior and mounted the emblem on t...

That type of pickup is called a “Ute” in Australia and a “Baki” in South Africa. That one’s pretty cool looking.

Re: 66 Madrigal Cloth Seat MaterialQuestion
You might want to check with SMS Auto Fabrics. They used to have a lot of exact matches for old interiors. Depending on whether you want to restore to exact factory specs (which will be very expensive), or select something close but not exact yet acceptable (less but still expensive) they can probab...

Re: 15" Tires for my '63 LCC
Mark, many thanks for posting the results of your tire research. I am leaning toward getting the Diamondbacks even though they may be more expensive. I don’t mind paying extra if the tires have a higher weight limit, better specs and offer better handling characteristics than others. Also, I prefer ...

Re: Stainless Steel Lincoln
Looking at the picture of the stainless ‘66 convertible with the top up it occurs to me how many tops tend to lift up a bit near the rear door and this one even has a few ripples along the leading edge. I imagine the car had seen some use judging from this as well as what appears to be signs of sagg...

Re: Diamond Back Radial Tires
I have the DB Auburn on my 1966. They are nice tires. No complaints after 700 miles. I had 11 year old Cokers on it when I bought it. It now rides nice and smooth and handles well going into cloverleafs etc. I see on the DB website the basic Lincoln tire has a 3/8 inch white wall which seems narrow...

Re: '62 Convertible Sold on BAT for $66,500
I’m not sure what they called it in the sales department but the shop manual refers to it as a limited-slip differential. I never heard of a diff being referred to as a hogsheads but I guess it might be similar in shape to a pumpkin.

Re: '62 Convertible Sold on BAT for $66,500
The only surprise was finding the differential replaced on an 80k car. I’ve always considered those more or less bulletproof. My car with about 100,000 miles has it’s original posi rear and it has made some disconcerting chatter noises going way back to the time Ron Baker counseled me on the need t...

Re: Mouse Attack
I use old fashioned spring loaded mouse traps baited with peanut butter. I often catch one or more in the Fall when the temperature drops and they are looking for a warm place to nest for the winter. After I get them in the Fall I leave the traps out but usually don’t have any more for the rest of t...
