Re: Second opinion. 462 rebuild?
Sorry I'm a tad late to this discussion. We can argue the horses and torque until Jesus comes back; but the bottom line is, where would one even use such power?! We're talking about cars whose speedos physically stop turning at 120 mph, which the 462 is more than capable of attaining. Try going any ...

Re: 67 sedan needs parts
An organ donor, then...? Hmm ... I'm sure I could think of some things, depending on what optional equipment this car you found was fitted with.

Re: '63 Fuel gauge not working
Thank you for the input. It occurred to me that I never compared the respective angles of the float rods in detail between the old and new senders. I just looked at their general similarities and hoped for the best where the low-fuel light was concerned. That's not an immediate concern for me to che...

I want to say I have seen this part in place in Frankenstein's dash, but I can't be sure.

Re: '63 Fuel gauge not working
Sorry if this looks like a hijack, but it is related to the topic. The recent discussion triggered a thought that never occurred to me before. On mine, the sending unit causes the gauge to read lower than the actual supply. My sending unit is a repro unit I got 5 years ago, and it's been this way si...

Re: 1964 Fuel Fill neck
I won't necessarily refute the disconnect-the-shock advice; maybe for some it's easier. All I'll say is, when I replaced Frankenstein's tank in 2005, I never disconnected the rear shock absorbers, and I did not have any issues.

Re: Looking for BOOT (ACCELERATOR SHAFT): C1VV 9A873-B....
Hi, all, Bumping this thread because I have something relevant to contribute to this topic. Quick history rehash: About 9-ish years ago, I did a cobble repair to Frankenstein's accelerator boot, by emulating Dan's own fix with a Mustang clutch-linkage boot. It held up pretty well for that time, but ...

No harm, no foul, Tom. I've had gaffes in the past, fully awake when I posted them.
Yes, that link is for the top-end grommet, which also tends to wear down and break up. It's good to see new "rubber" parts for shock absorbers that would otherwise still be functional.

Re: 1966 Front Shock Absorbers
Well, I did indicate above that I already swapped out the shock absorbers. The Monroe shocks still have resistance in them, which tells me they still have some life to them, even if they are a bit on the old side; it's only the bushings that gave out. If those can be replaced–and from the input on t...

Re: 00 Continental performance
Just to clarify something, we welcome Lincoln owners of all years, especially if they have knowledge to share with the Forum. However, the newer cars–because they were not the primary center of interest when this Forum was stood up–don't have a lot of support. It's not because we don't like them; it...

 That's another Atomic Annie, placed at the top of a mountain across I-70 from Fort Riley. Same series of cannon, though without its piggyback tractors. The apartment complex I lived at was close enough to see it from the top of that small mountain (or large hill, depending on one's opinion), w...

Re: 1966 Front Shock Absorbers
That brings back memories of when I tried reviving my grand's Man-Of-War in '89. We took it to the one shop in Podunk Quincy, FL, that did that sort of work; and they indicated the whole front end needed surgery. That is understandable as it was still factory-stock at the time. They gave an estimate...

 I think you know me by now, and that I meant that with the most acidic snark. I'm a Gen-X'er who was brought up with just about every educational source of sarcasm available to X'ers. We used to call it "pretend to be," until some self-ordained Gen-Z whippersnapper came up with "...

Re: 1966 Front Shock Absorbers
Bump for an update. Today I installed the new shock absorbers, after being admittedly hesitant to do the job because of that annoying ordeal with the top bracket fasteners on the port side. The starboard-side shock absorber went in without issue; the port side, not so much. As if dealing with a perm...
