Re: 62 Transmission - Broke Something

Obviously, it will be important to get under there and determine where it is leaking. You may have just "burped" some fluid out of the breather or dipstick tube due to the angle. I don't the exact cause, but my late '58 was fond of doing it on a friend's steep drive. It may make a mess, bu...

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal

From the Wayne's not Haynes manual: Disconnect negative battery cable. Insert tank, tighten fasteners. Wayne You know, it's easy to joke about how the manuals start every repair with "Disconnect negative battery cable". I've worked on cars all my life, and could probably count on one hand...

Tony, I imagine it will be easier to put a speaker in now, planning for the day when you do find a radio.

They can still be found here relatively easily, but I'm sure that's not the case in Oz. Shipping would probably cost more than the radio.

Re: Input From San Antonio Forum Members on Upholstery Shops

Tony is that possibly “XH-9”? If so, that means the desiccant is compatible with both R-12 and 134.

Yes, that was another stop on that tour.

We also stayed in Kennebunkport a few days. I thought it was pretty crowded, but Cole Porter had a nice place there.

That’s a beautiful area, Wayne. We were in the Model A national tour a few years ago, and stopped by the museum on our way to Acadia NP. All that way just to drive the Cadillac Road  .

Re: 1974 headlight switch

I tried that trick many years ago on the Cougar, and it does work for a short time. The longest lasting in my experience was white lithium grease in the aerosol can. But it’s far from a permanent fix.

Re: Upgrade master cylinder

That is difficult to say without knowing which front calipers you are using. Typically, those who convert to disc are using an integrated kit with all the necessary bits, including the MC.

Unless you are running extra large aftermarket calipers, you are probably OK with the MC off of a 67.

I wonder how many of our younger members have even heard the term "landau bar"?

They were a polarizing design then, and 55 years hasn't helped matters, in my opinion.

Re: Our ‘66 Convertible Project

I used counteract internal beads on my '67, no interference, and they never need to be rebalanced. I did the same thing with mine. I was not completely happy with the balance on the last set of Coker radials, took them back to be rebalanced, and it might have come back a little better, but still no...

Wow! I have seen the solder joints fail on brass floats, but I’ve never seen one eaten through like that.

Did it fire right up for you?

Re: Discouraging Air Filter Finding

I don't know for sure, Fraser. The 2V does use the typical 5" Holley gasket. I suspect that the exhaust heat ductwork is different. Height may be a factor.

In any case, it's a minor annoyance, not enough to consider changing it (yet).
