Re: All The Way With LBJ

Papawayne, RR's speechwriting team included Peggy Noonan, who wrote several books about him. Traditionally, S/Ws stayed in the background. She was really the first to have a public profile.

Re: All The Way With LBJ

"All the way with LBJ" was a good campaign slogan. That of his opponent (Barry Goldwater) was "In your heart, you know he's right."

Re: Our ‘66 Convertible Project

Congratulations, and good luck! Please send the VIN to www.thelincolnregistry.com if you haven't already. Also, you mention some plans for the A/C system. Are you planning to keep it R-12 or convert it to R-134a?

Re: Restoration

McPherson College is 3 hours west of KC. Some of their graduates stayed nearby after graduation, so if you want to stay local, that's worth exploring.

Re: 1966 Lincoln Continental A/C Issue

Going back to Lee and Dan's comments on R-12, I checked eBay and didn't see any cans of it for sale, only the "Enviro-safe" substitute. It wasn't more than a few years ago that it was readily available on that site, NOS by DuPont and others, running about $35 per can. Did its availability ...

Re: 66 Lincoln Battery HoldDown

Hard to find the exact match in a new/repro. I finally just had my old one sandblasted and powder-coated for my 1966 'vert. Here's a photo of one I ordered and the original. The correct battery (Group 29) didn't fit on the repro. 29s are also hard to find and many people use Group 27s, which may fit.

Re: AutomotiveMileposts.com is dead

It's a shame we didn't get some advance warning about Automotive Mileposts. I would have liked to print out the pages with options prices, etc for certain year Lincolns.

Re: Lincoln Registry

Mike, perhaps look at this not as what you can get out of it (for free) but what you can contribute to it to support the Lincoln community. That said, what people get out of it is that if they're thinking of buying a car, they can see if it has any history on the site. When people ask "how many...

Re: beltline sweep

Steele was kind enough to send me a sample pack of their universal beltline sweeps. The package is marked "specialty seals -- great for auto glass beltline." There are 12 different samples and tomorrow I'll spend some time in the garage trying to figure out which one is a match for my 1966...

Stu, it's working fine for me. John is actively managing it and it's a great resource for the Lincoln community!

Re: Windows will not work unless bypass switch is pressed

The separate shop manual for the rear windows has troubleshooting for windows that won't go down automatically but do go up and down via the window switches. I have the opposite problem. My left rear window was working fine. Now it won't go down with either the door switch or the driver's switch. Bu...

Re: Lincolns in the movies and TV

A 1963 film, "The Old Dark House," starred Robert Morely and Tom Poston. Set in England, Peter Bull's character Caspar orders a Lincoln Continental from car salesman Poston, saying, "I've always wanted a foreign car." Har, har."Is it a good car?" he asks. "The best...
