Re: Mark IV dash questions

If the question is regarding a padded, leather covered dash such as that found in the '79 Collectors Series, then the answer is no.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Laura. With the holidays upon us, you may not have quiet times with your '66 until after the first of the year, when things calm down. I often find myself out in the garage at odd hours, having a smoke and just staring at my '73 Mark IV. I'm very lucky to have it...

Hi, Laura! I have always used Meguiars products on all of my cars and those that I detail for clients. They make a couple of different "series" of products, either of which will give great results. The red bottle products are for folks who care enough about their cars to want to use a qual...

Welcome aboard, Laura! I'm getting a lot of pleasure following this thread, and it's nice to see another person around my age (46) that loves vintage Lincolns, and is enthusiastic about taking on the responsibility of keeping one on the road. I agree that the restoration and maintenance of your car ...

Re: Lincoln V's imperial V's Cadillac

Personally, I don't think a person could have gone wrong with any of the three. They were all slightly different variations on the same theme. Owners who were more interested in how their cars were running may have chosen the Imperial for its more complete instrumentation. The Imperial also handled ...

Re: Continental name returning in 2016?

I really like what I see, and I think Lincoln should build it just the way it is. Of course, not every feature will make it into production, but if the car looks like this when it hits the showrooms, and the price is not in the stratosphere, Lincoln should enjoy success with it.

Re: Help! Torn between two cars and cant choose

As the proud owner of a '73 Mark IV myself, I can tell you for a fact that they are wonderful cars. Of course, I am biased. I have driven Mark Vs before, and they are quite nice as well, but I truly believe that you will have a more pleasurable ownership experience with the '73 versus the '78. I liv...

Re: Pleasures Of Driving A Classic Car

Like Dan, I grew up in a middle class family. In being honest, I would have to say that we were lower middle class. My parents never had nice cars until after my brother and I were out of high school. They both worked, and we always had food on the table, but their hard earned money was spent puttin...

Barry and Ken are spot on with their posts here. This forum has certainly helped me with my Lincolns, on more than one occasion. You have my thanks as well, Dan.

Re: Need new battery

Dan is right on about the trickle charger. As for batteries, a friend of mine who is a Buick dealership mechanic told me a while back that Interstate batteries are the best. He said that the AC Delco and Motorcraft batteries were "okay" but Interstate batteries are superior.

Re: Lincoln christmas tree ornament

Nice! I have used those emblems on everything from bolo ties to travel bars, and even a tobacco pipe. That's a very clever idea to use one as a Christmas tree ornament. I may give this a try myself.

Re: build sheet info

I have never seen the shop manual for 1979 models, but I would imagine it would be in the same format as those for other years. The shop manual for my 1973 is a five volume set. One of the volumes contains information on trim codes, engine codes, transmission codes, paint codes... you name it. The i...
