These rules apply to using the "Upload Attachment" feature of this forum.
Because of the inherent disruption of the forum display of large images, in both pixels and filesize, I am requiring that all inline images posted on this forum be under 6144x4096 pixels and 4MiB filesize. That means the pic cannot be wider than 6144 pixels or taller than 4096 pixels. 8192 x 2160 pics would violate as would 2160x5100 pics, etc. Use the resize function and jpg compression setting in your graphics programs to keep the total dimensions and filesize down.
You may violate the above rules (post larger pics) if and only IF you place the following words in your subject of your thread:
- pic warning
- JPG warning
- large pics
If I come across an inline image that is too big in a thread without a pic warning, I might, at my discretion, convert the image to a link, or completly delete the image and link from the post.
You will NOT be warned when this will occur. Enforcement of this rule has been lax, but doesn't mean it won't ever happen.
If you are linking to an outside image, you must verify it is smaller than 6144x4096 or convert it to a smaller image and host it on your own web space.
Programs for resizing Images
Mac:
Graphic Converter (Shareware, free)
PC:
IRFanView (free)
Photoshop Elements
If you're mobile phone pics are too big for the forum, try reducing the image size on the phone of using a 3rd party app.
Most photo management pics allow resizing of pictures. When resizing from your digital camera or photo library, be sure to save the original so you can always go back to it. It is preferred to save the low res pics in a new location for the purpose of uploading to the forum. Never save over your originals!
If these rules are modified, they will be reflected in this post.
