Wiper blade interference with hood?

Post by John Mc »

Guys my ‘77 coupe has wiper blades that strike the hood trim. The hood appears to be in hood alignment. Could modern wiper arms be of a taller profile? Anyone have this issue in the past? Archives come up with nothing. Thanks, see below.

Wrong wiper blade. Someone replaced the low profile originals with aftermarket junk. Let me see if I have an original set in my attic.

If you have another 70s car you're selling, swap out the wiper blades and holders if they look flatter. THe OEMs were made from very thin stamped metal.

Great info Dan………..now where to get a set of originals in case you don’t have them. When I got this glass top, the arms were missing. I assume I can just buy a set of refills one I find a set of original arms.

Parts cars are the only source. This is like the third or fourth time I gave seen this on this forum.

Personally, it happened to me which is why I know about the problem. I kept a pair for exactly this from my parts 79.

Now, I have to see if I still have the holders or if I already sold them to the last person with this problem.

How about Trico 33-18 blades? I've fitted a pair into my Mark IV and these are quite easily available over here, maybe in US too...
For example https://www.myautoparts123.com/trico-cl ... r-blade-18

Those look like they’ll work.

They’re just the wrong color (silver instead of matte black). Easily paintable.

The originals were Trico. They appear to be correct.

Thanks Mr Dan, but my NAPA girl found me a set of original lower profile ones.
