Here's a shot of the rear of the 4L60E tranny and the driveshaft bracket. We're going to have to use a 2-piece driveshaft because of the angle from the rear of the trans to the third member.

And the exhaust has been very trying. There is almost zero clearance on the left side of the block for exhaust. The right side is no problem, but the left side is really tight. So we had to do some innovative engineering for the left side exhaust.

In the picture above you can see the adapter plate that allows the GM transmission to attach to the HEMI block.

Those are very interesting exhaust manifolds. Don't think I've ever seen some like that. Keep up the good work.

I've spent months looking for wheels, and really didn't find any that really grabbed me. I didn't want to go too modern and didn't want to go too retro (Cragars or similar 5-stars). I came close to going with steelies, but wasn't happy about the weight. I finally settled on these. They're Centerlines in 20". The wheels are rotary forged T-6061 billet aluminum, so they're both light (26 pounds) and strong (2200 pound rating). The hi-polish might be a bit of a bitch to keep up, but not that bad.

Nice wheels,

You forgot to answer my question about the wiring harness for the HEMI. How does it tie into the factory harness? Do you have to run any of the modern dash for the MEL?

cheers

I'm not sure how the Hemi wiring is integrated with the factory wiring. That's way above my head. We're also converting all the instruments to modern internals and installing aftermarket a/c, converting all the windows to electric, adding cruise control, etc. Lots of wiring fun.

You are under the right index for motor swaps, there is mine 1966 LCC resto mod conversion, or 63 convertible 4.6 build, and the craziest continental project ever. These should keep you busy for a bit there are some 460 swaps also just don't know the builds right off. Search under 460 maybe.

JonW looks good. I am going the two piece drive shaft rout for the same reason. Was going to dump my 8.8 for a 9 inch , but after buying lots of 9 inch stuff found that the 9 inch pinion is only .75 inch lower than the 8.8. Since the 9 inch would have to go and be narrowed to match the 8.8 didn't seem worth it. So it's Ebay time for the 9 inch stuff. Would like to see some more pics of your drive shaft set up, making mine frim a 94 F150 two piece unit.

It's been painted, the drivetrain is installed and it's almost ready to fire. This shop has done an outstanding job in every respect. Their workmanship has been first class, and the engine bay is very tidy and uncluttered. We trying to get it ready for Cruisin' the Coast in October, it's going to be close.
