Original 1977 Michelin X

Details such as correct colors, plating material, inspection marks, orientation, and even the number of wipes that should occur for a vacuum-powered windshield wiper system after pushing the "wash" button.

Original 1977 Michelin X

Post by Barry Wolk »

My '77 Town car has OEM 230-15 Michelin X tires with 21,000 miles on them. They aren't scuffed or dry-rotted. They would be perfect for the trailer queen that needed that final touch of authenticity. The spare has never been out of the trunk.

Might be willing to trade for some period correct turbine or polish dish rims in restorable shape.

My newest car is 15 years old!

What with expriation dates on everything these days, including tires, it is no wonder no one wants old tires, even if they appear to be in excellent condition. OTOH, I had a tire on my Lincoln that was about 10 years old, that had maybe 25,000 miles and looked in good condition, begin to delaminate and come apart on the highway. I made it to my destination by keeping my speed down.

I have a whole set of five (5) P235/75R-15 Michelins (the last ones before "all-season" tread, so very quiet)
with zero miles on them, and only one has ever been mounted (on a mid-60s Lincoln rim). I thought that
these would be perfect for a trailer queen. I want to sell them, but I have not found someone with
interest yet, even at a very reasonable price. Will not ship; but cash speaks.

Just a quick note to tell the Board what a pleasure it was to deal with Barry Wolk - I bought his original Michelin X (230 X 15) spare and am very pleased to have a brand new (correct sized) spare in my car. This tire replaces the brand new Michelin X (225 X 15) I had in the trunk which is for a Mark V.
