Sponsors?

Post by Dan Szwarc »

I am experimenting with the idea that Vendors who want to push their Lincoln wares on this site can do it in their own forum if they donate $25 for the priveledge to do so.

I have to do some fancy setup related to accounts for it to work, but you can see the forum right now. (There are obviously no posts yet.)

It will be done to reduce spam and give vendors a way of paying to play in our sandbox, so to speak.

Win Win situation.
Keeps a place for them without sales pitches in our regular threads, helps us learn of sources for Lincoln parts, and helps support the site (I guess that was a Win, Win, Win  )

It doesn't appear any of the Topic areas have ever been run over by anyone hawking parts or services. Not even the "usual suspects." Correct me if I'm wrong.

I dont think anyone has said there is a problem here with vendors, but I think it is a great way to give vendors a place to be able to post without getting slammed for it... and at the same time bring in some cash to keep the forum going.

I'd agree with your assessment, Barry; no vendor that I've seen has gotten overly pushy. With Mr Szwarc's newly-implemented excellent idea, we can keep it that way!

If I may ask, without getting too personal - how is the Forum funded?

The reason I ask, is that I've found the site very beneficial. Its been much more informative on what matters to me more so than what I've derived so far from the LCOC, to which I contribute each year.

I would be willing to chip in a fin or sawbuck each year, just to say thanks for the effort. Do you Paypal?

Dan,

I think $25 is too cheap, especially if it's a one time fee. You may want to consider an annual or monthly fee. Also, if you do set this up, how can you block someone who doesn't pay?

Just a few pennies for my thoughts.

Definitely an idea to explore given the amount of members who currently have or are <dreaming> of investing in a Lincoln, (as ZZTop says) "you can't lose". For example, http://www.bakersauto.com/. Being new to the forum, if this link should be removed - just send me a pm - I mean no harm/foul by listing it. My two cents :smt115
