Jim: I think it was also Todd Allen who invented the thread of putting 63 hubcaps on 15" Wheels. I followed those instructions to the T and no judge has ever questioned them. I think the judges must just look down and see the 63 hubcaps, which is all they look for. Wayne

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
Fraser I may take you up on a used one, mine is pretty bad and kinda rusty at the hinge. I think the L truck one will possibly come tomorrow so if it dosent work I’ll definitly just buy a used one from you, if you can part with one

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
Here are the pedals in hand. The L series is similar but here are some differences in the pedals I noticed off the bat:
L series -
has little bit higher pivot point,
same mounting hole spacing (close enough)
different (not quite as much) angle towards the trans tunnel
Roughly same spacing on rear linkage mounting studs although not in the same location as the oem pedal - they are a bit higher than the oem Lincoln unit.
And obviously not nearly as cool as the old Lincoln one in general.
What to do what to do. That is the question. I could probably modify it fab it up a bit to work - or just get a used one and bolt her up

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
I don't think it will work, the fulcrum (hinge) is too high, if you extend the linkage through the floor, its travel will be to long. Also, the more upright stance will be too close to the brake.
I will see what I can find next week, the rain has started here, and I won't be out there to look, for a while.

Okay, thank you. Yeah I was thinking the exact thought, the pivot point is too high! Keep me updated- Brad

According to the 66-72 MPC, this part doesn't exist for D, Lincoln Continental:1Bad55Chevy wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 12:10 pm https://www.2040-parts.com/used-61-62-6 ... -i2024855/
Will that work?

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
However, this pedal is found in the 65-66 MPC! And it's the same for all 1962-69s!
Used, but $100 plus shipping is worth it.The below links are mostly dead.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
I saw that ad on 2040
And when I clicked it, it said the order was not possible due to being out of stock. Seems to be a dated listing

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
Here is a photo of what it says when i try to order.
Also that 2040 site is super glitchy and kinda weird/sketch. If I could order it I’d probably just risk it, but it won’t let me.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
This might sound crazy but hear me out lol...
If you bend the tabs on the pedal bezel could you remove the plastic pieces and stainless trim from the actual metal pedal? If so I would try doing that then TIG weld a small piece of piano hinge to replace the rusted portion of the pedal. It might sound hillbilly but that pedal should be able to be repaired.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
I’m not sure that would work because the rubber (or what’s left of it) is what i guess I would call vulkinized around the metal petal body. Yes, the polished bezel part comes off but the rest of the unit is one assembly. But you are correct that I could just cut the hinge portion off and weld in a new hinge. In all honestly the rubber on the foot grip portion is not that bad but the hinge is rusted on the underside (still functioning) and the rubber is old and hard/brittle/missing in places. So technically I could still probably spray this thing down with some PB blaster and lube and bolt her back up and go. But if possible I’d like to get bit cleaner pedal option while i fix the floor pan on the drivers side of the car.

Here is a few shots of the car. I just went through the motor and got it running. Lots of fresh parts.

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
Nice pictures...what year is your car? It kinda looks like a 63 (my year) I am slowly getting used to folks who don't care one whit for authenticity. In my old age I'm starting to get that way myself. I've already made some changes that aren't terribly visible, but next, if I don't sell the car first, (long story), I'm going to try some stuff that works better than original and may be visible at the same time. Unfortunately, the doctors may beat me to it. Wayne

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal
The site has terrible add placement that looks like it's part of the ordering page. I'd try contacting them or keep looking for the pedal elsewhere. If you want, you can contact them using their ContactUs link: https://www.2040-parts.com/contact/ but I wouldn't bother.64hardtoptexas wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 3:40 pm Here is a photo of what it says when i try to order.

Their last blog entry was 10 years ago. https://www.2040-parts.com/blog/
I would NOT use that site. It's fishy and likely just an email harvesting page acquired after the domain expired. The last blog post is from 2014, but the whois registry says it was registered in 2015.
At least we have a pedal part number now.
