1969 Sedan blinker/hazard issue.
1969 Continental sedan. Turn signals went out, so I swapped the flasher and hazard relay. Same issue. Turn signals will not work but the hazards do. All fuses are good. I'm out of town with the car and away from all my tools. What should I try to check?

Turn signals and hazard flashers are separate circuits that use the same bulbs.
You can say the bulbs are good. Along with wiring to the bulbs.
The turn signals only work with the ignition on.
Hazards will work with ignition off.
The circuits are fused separately.
When either turn signal is turned on does any light bulb light up and stay lit?

Sounds like a bad turn signal relay

Re: 1969 Sedan blinker/hazard issue.
I would say the same thing...but the $64 question is, does '69 employ turn-signal relays? I know the engineers started deleting a lot of relays starting with '68, keeping only a few and relocating those few to oddball locations. But I'm not sure if the turn-signal relays were among those being deleted.
So, just to make sure of something, nothing lights up when the lever is moved to either direction, at all? What about brake lights? Do they still work? If there is no relay in the '69 schematic, it could be a fried turn-signal switch; it is possible for a circuit in the switch to fry and kill one feature while leaving the others intact. Or it could be a loose or broken wire to the switch. Or it could be a gremlin that will exit on its own. If this failure just happened out of the blue and there are no signs of failure in the normal suspect locations, it could just be one of those random things that could fix itself when you don't expect it.
Please don't consider this dismissive or sarcastic, but if you're out of town with the car and can't get the signals to work again, remember your hand signals. That is still a legally-acceptable means of signaling your intentions.

It seems nobody knows what hand signals mean anymore! Sometimes I drive '20's vehicles for the museum here, and when I use hand signals, people just wave back, as they pass on the side I signalled for!
