Difference between Capri and Premier in 1956 - 1957

Any Lincoln fact related question can be posted here. Questions such as how many Contintenal convertibles were produced in MY1965? How much was the Town Car option in 1969? What size of tire was standard on a 1953 Premiere? or Does the Mark II retractible prototype still exist?

Difference between Capri and Premier in 1956 - 1957

Post by StevenD57 »

Hello:
I am wondering what the difference was between the Capri and the Premier in the 1956 - 1957 cars.
Is information like this available somewhere?

They seem like two very different cars to me....they must share some common parts, though...Wayne

I don't understand what you are talking about. The cars look almost identical. I have not seen one parked right next to the other though so that is why I am asking this question Perhaps you are not understanding my original question.

I am trying to figure out the difference between a 1956 Capri and a 1956 Premier. Also similar question for a 1957 Capri verses a 1957 Premier.

Hi Steve,
For 1956 & 1957 Lincoln - Capri was the entry level model with the Premiere being the Top of the Line. Difference was mostly in the finish areas such as standard vs optional equipment, interior fabric/leather choice, options and so on. Visit the website of Lincoln Land Inc. in Florida. They have the sales brochure for both these years on line. From their Home page, click on Browse Products. On that page, Top Right - click production information, brochures, etc. Then click on the year you wish to review. I have all the brochures should you have a specific question. Visit my website, http://www.collectiblemetal.net to see my 1956 & 1957 Premieres. Happy Holidays!
