Hi
i just bought a 56 lincoln the vin shows 5y80xxxxxxx
what does the 80 mean? i know that 82 is sedan , could not find any record of 80.
also where are the vin stamped on the car ?

The VIN is on a plate on the door jamb, but nothing you posted matches what's in my MPC for 1956.
However, if you can't find the VIN, how can you say it shows anything. Are you referring to the paperwork you received?

I'm assuming you have a Premiere or a Capri and not a 56 Mark II.

Are you sure you don't mean a 65 Lincoln and didn't just fat-finger the year? A 5Y82XXXXXXX VIN is typical of 1965. 65 VINs are stamped inside the engine bay on both the drivers and passenger side, just above the rear upper control arm opening.
