Re: Rear bumper
Turns out their are screw holes, I just missed them. So the difference must be an extended or flattened surface for the rubber to contact, which can't be altered from mine.

Re: 64 vert - Suspect Bad or Failing CVR
By removing the ground, you have an open circuit, so the supplied voltage goes nowhere. if the guage is no longer pinned, it is no longer stressed. Make sure to tape the wires or they will find a new ground. I think your car has the regulator with 2 spade connectors, If possible to pull the wires of...

Re: misused term "hardtop"
G.M. introduced it as a hardtop convertible, as it was a convertible body with a hard top, a coupe used a more streamlined body at that time. That term fell out of use when the retractable hardtop came out. I know I'm nit picking, but these terms are a pet peeve of mine, and It seems I'm not alone! ...

Re: 64 vert - Suspect Bad or Failing CVR
I suppose you could unplug the temp. sender under the hood, the fuel guage would be harder, but trace the harness until you find a plug. temporary fix, but may save the guages.

Re: Rear bumper
Thank you both. I was under the impression the rubber was attached to the upper bar, but if it attaches to the trunk lid, I will check for mounting holes. My lid has been replaced in the past, and who knows what that collision shop did, but so far, I'm not impressed. It appears to be solid, but had ...

Re: misused term "hardtop"
O.K. you got me started! In my opinion, a sedan has four doors, a coupe has 2, both are closed cars. There are convertible coupes, convertible sedans, hardtop sedans and hardtop coupes. Lincoln used to have convertible phaetons and roadsters, which are the same thing, convertible only means it can b...

Rear bumper
I have a sedan bumper on my 67 conv. and want to get the correct one. I have not seen one up close, but it seems only the upper bar is unique. Can the sedan bar be modified to accept the rubber, or is there a flange missing? Not having it rechromed yet, but I will after the body work is ready, and w...

Re: 1981 Lincoln Mark 6
It seems I was wrong about the manuals. Sometime in the early 70s, they stopped making a distinct Canadian manual, putting all data in one. In my 67 manuals, the only unique part is a header page with some Ford of Canada phone #s and a note about U. S. gallons verses Imperial, which became obsolete ...

Re: 1981 Lincoln Mark 6
I am not familiar with 81, but in earlier years all Lincoln's were built in U. S., only DSO would show a Cdn# ( a letter and 2 digit #) .Data plate will say "Ford of Canada" if built here. Prior to 1967, Ford trucks used a unique serial # , which was only decoded in the Canadian manual, bu...

Re: 1966 Upper Control Arm Bushing Failing
I measured them on my 67, both sides are the same, at 11". Hard to reach from above, so I bent a coat hanger, and measured that, so not a perfect gauge, but if both sides are alike, that's a start. The manual shows the arm being supported directly below the bushing while being pressed (one side...

Could control arm "ears" have bent during installation?

Re: 1961 lincoln engine
I had a 462 on a 1000 lb stand 0nce, when I moved it I hit a tiny stone and that shock caused the stand to fold up like a pretzel. I now have a 430 on a light stand until I get a better one, but I wont move it. The 462 uses a C6 transmission, which has a different bolt pattern than the 430. If your ...

Re: Automatic temperature control retrofit 67+
Hello Nick. I was out at the farm to remove a heater from my parts truck, and spent more of my time on the Lincoln than the truck. I found that someone has already converted it to later parts, so here is what I have. control box c8va 19c730 a, in dash sensor c7va 19c734 with white and blue wires. Pl...

Re: Automatic temperature control retrofit 67+
I believe I have seen all of them in my tinkering, they all look familiar, however a good plan of attack is to get all from the same year as the control to avoid any mismatch. I never did have the 66 running, so that system is untested. The previous owner claimed A.C. was "top notch" befor...

Re: Automatic temperature control retrofit 67+
Nick;
My 66 parts car has A.T.C. but my conv has only a heater. I may, one day, put the A.C. in the conv, but would prefer non auto. If you are interested in swapping the dash control with mine, we can talk. The 66 control box, I am told, is not compatible with the later ones.
