Re: Automatic parking brake release
Well gang, back to my original topic. Got to the car. Can confirm I had the correct nss on the column, with the correct vacuum nipples. Just couldn't see them installed. Ok, removed the nss bench tested vacuum system on the original nss, and it leaks through, never directs to pull vacuum. And that's...

Re: Automatic parking brake release
I believe you to be correct. I pulled pin and found neutral with continuity. And the pin inserted fine and holds the N position. I imagine people, like me, have played with it over the years, as this wasn't the position it came to me in. But cool might simplify things. Last unknown is finding the so...

Re: Automatic parking brake release
I got my part today. I dont live where the car lives so itll be a weekend thing to try. But on the bench electrically seems to work. continuity in park what i guess would be neutral and no where else on one set of pins. continuity on the other set of pins in reverse for back up lights. vacuum wise i...

Re: Automatic parking brake release
Thanks Nick! I bought the USA one. That was a price I was happy to see. But I don't want to get my hopes too high just yet, but maybe this will solve both problems. Compared to the ones I linked to this one has the 2 nipples at the top like the picture. I wonder what the nub by the wires it's for. I...

Strange. Anywho, we ...

Re: Automatic parking brake release
Did the $300 guy have an eye patch and a parrot? I just threw one in with some wiring someone bought recently at no extra cost. Anyway, I expect one nipple has broken, they are 50 year old plastic. If the nipple is not centered in the hump, one is broken off. I have an extra saginaw one, with the t...

Re: Automatic parking brake release
when i look at ebay i am finding plenty (likely wrongfully listed) with 1 nipple or 0 nipple. From what i felt/saw i am pretty sure ive only got the one nipple. i dont know why a NSS would have only one, i understand 2 or 0. but i suspect at some point the NSS was replaced on this car and that parki...

Re: Automatic parking brake release
makes sense, i see looking at NSS pictures on the net, i see where the second nipple should be, sooo, i need to find this other hose that is likely capped off or whatevers, or run my own vacc source i suppose if it came to that. overall this is low on my list but an intersting thing. laying on your ...

Re: Automatic parking brake release
When you say two hoses run from the switch, Is the switch the nss or the vacuum actuator looking thing that is part of the parking mechanism. On the nss, doing this only by feel. I only felt one nipple.

Re: Automatic parking brake release
Alright, I checked onto my parking release, I found a hose that came from the parking break mechanism from what appeared to be a vacuum actuator. There was no hose plugged into the nss. I plugged it in, no change in function no automatic release. Pulled hose from new again. There is no vacuum there ...

Re: Power steering inlet hose size?
Ah... interesting. I didn't know they made that inlet 1/8" bigger for 460 pumps. Also interesting to learn the guts remained the same; even the impeller sleeve? So the crank snout of the 460 is the same size as the 462 snout? It's cool to learn more and more about these pumps, being that we'll...

Re: Power steering inlet hose size?
Appreciate the post Tony. Noticed or the other day. The 69 and I would assume all 460 Lincolns. Is 3/4 in. I know from when tim nill rebuilt my pump the housing of pump on 460 is different but guts are the same. Based on the donor he used for the guts was older but my housing was reused.

Automatic parking brake release
So I just learned I'm supposed to have automatic parking brake release on4 my 69 4Dr. The parking brake world, it holds the vehicle, the lever release it fine. Putting in gear does not. Is anyone familiar with the mechanism that would do that? Is, it all mechanical related to column shift? Does it t...

Re: 1969 460 Radiator
it cant be rebuilt, ok ok, i suppose everything can be rebuilt but not practical for this junk. yes aftermarket, the one i have found is champion https://shop.championcooling.com/Performance-Radiators/Lincoln/Continental/1968-1969-Lincoln-Continental-SKU-6869 so maybe that is the one. I know it was ...
