Re: Gas smell in cabin??

You smell the fumes. If it's warm, it's evaporating before it can form a drop.

One your back, flashlight in hand, or just take it to a shop and have them put it up on the rack.

Re: Gas smell in cabin??

Look for a seepage leak on a fuel line between the tank and the engine bay along the frame on the left side. You will probably have to get on the ground or jack the car up.

I am impressed and honored that denizen44 would post such a detailed and informative post. I hope your pictures are hosted well and never get deleted because it would be a shame to lose them if your service were to go away like so many have.

Re: Cigar lighter in dash

There’s usually clips at the bottom sides of the receptacle to grab the edge of the element. If they are rusted or damaged, they may not grab. It’s possible you can bend them out/in to help them grab again but you may have to replace the receptacle. Not fun if you don’t have easy access to the back....

Re: 66 Lincoln Continental Crank, No Start

You don’t have to adjust squat if all you are looking for is spark. If the ignitor is dead (which I suspect) then any points that produce spark will tell you the coil is good. I have an Ignitor I in my 66 since 1999 and I’m surprised it still works. The II is supposed to be resistant to key-on burn ...

Re: 66 Lincoln Continental Crank, No Start

Pop the points back in and see if it starts (or sparks).

Here's the cross reference according to RockAuto of all the vehicles that Arm is compatible with. Screenshot 2024-05-15 at 5.26.33 PM.png I googled it and found many places that sell it. Please check to see if someone has stock. Oreilley: https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/precision-chassis/chassi...

I have to ask, are you sure it's the pitman arm and not the center link?

All seals harden with age and heat. A rebuild is inevitable.

They’re part of the folding top mechanism, Convertibles today may still have them but they are on the inside of the top material not the outside.

Here’s some better pics of how they work.
