The never ending brake light
8Track. According to the Ford Shop Manual "After any repair or bleeding of the primary or secondary system, the dual-brake warning light will usually continue to be illuminated due to the pressure differental valve remaining in the off center position. To centralize the pressure differetial val...

One of my other cars is a 65 Buick Skylark. You can see a couple of the rocker arms when you take off the breather cap. When I first got the car, the rockers were really gunked up. I changed filter and the oil to Valvoline Durablend (a semi-syn oil). Checked the oil after 2000 miles and it looked li...

Door Panel Speakers
Stutz The speakers are round and 6 1/2" across. It has a Ford part number of (it looks like) D20A 18808 AA 433211. But they have a 3.2 ohm v.c. (impedence?). Our Mk IV had an AM/8 Track that didn't work. So I replaced it with an AM/FM/cassett with plug-in for a portable CD player. I replaced al...

Stealth Manifold
Rob When I rebuilt my 460 (for my 72 Mk) I was going to use a Stealth and the chrome Ford air cleaner (along with other chrome goodies) and saw how high the Stealth was compared to the stock manifold I bought a Performer. With the Performer and chrome Ford air cleaner I have an indentation in the in...

1959 MK IV Circuit breakers
Bob
I got my circuit breakers at my friendly Parts Plus Auto parts store. They're by Borg Warner. CB 7 and CB 8 for part numbers. I DID have to ask for them. They weren't out with the usual eleectrical stuff.

Do you need to be a contortionist to fix these
Guy - I HAD the same problem with my 72 Mk. I spent two evenings on the back of my head messing with the brake light switch. I took out the speedo/clock unit and in less than 10 minutes I had the switch in and was putting the dash back together.

recomended carb
I have a 72 Mk. When I got it, it had a cracked head and no valve stem seals (the seals were in pieces). I got a Performance Automotive Warehouse rebuild kit (crank, rods, pistons, rings and bearings). I added the extra $$ and had the crank balanced and upgraded the rings to chrome/moly. It's bored ...

Need a little help on my 72 MkIV
Sgt Art, The factory Engine Shop Manual shows 3 different Distributor Vacuum Control Valves on the 72 line of engines. My 72 Mk doesn't have a filter on it, so assuming yours doesn't either; the top hose comes from the carb, the middle hose goes to the distributor vacuum advance and the bottom hose ...

Converting Points to electronic
Sgt Art,
I have the Petronix Ignitor II (to replace the points) and FlameThrower II coil with an MSD 6A box in my 72 Mk. I didn't believe the difference they made with the performance and gas mileage.

MarkIV signals
Mark, I had the same turn signal problem with my 72 Mk. I found the flasher by its self, above the emergency brake, about mid-way between the front of the dashboard and the firewall. The problem I had with the electrics was the bottom set of fuse holders for the circuit breakers had rusted away. The...
