Throw them in the back seat and only have people sitting in the front.

Re: 1966 67 68 69 front brake hoses (alternates)

Check local parts stores. At least they are quick to return if they don't fit. For 63 they were still around $10 each.

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal

It's one of those you get what you pay for things with 4 post ones. Most I've seen are good for service because they expect thsts what people are going to do with them once they have them. But some are pretty light weight just for storage. I haven't seen the kind that doubles as a full contact frame...

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal

A lot of drive on lifts serve both purposes. "When you used a drive on lift as a hoist, did you just use chains around the lift and connect to the bumper?" Hoist and lift are different terms for the same thing. You're not using it with a chain to lift the car. I think what people are tryin...

Re: brake fluid compatibility

You also said you were too cheap to buy an overhaul kit. No body's badmouthing anyone. If you've worked on vehicles your whole life you'd know there's a right way and wrong way of doing things so the positive advice is to do it right the first time :)

Re: brake fluid compatibility

It's a safety issue. Get off your cheap butt and either get a rebuild kit and fix it right or get a new master cylinder.
There's no easy fix to a failed seal. It could become more expensive if it keeps leaking and starts wrecking the brake booster.

Re: What's your most IMPORTANT thing in your tool box?

What killed craftsman for me was cheaper tools came up in quality and then Craftsman started being made at the same places as those tools so after a certain point you were only paying a premium for the name. Then a lot of people used to make the argument that you were paying for the warranty with Cr...

Yeah thats what I did it on :D Turned out in my case I didn't have to remove it but I guess if anything it might have made replacing lines easier and cleaning 60 year old dirt.

Not sure what year of car comtinentalguy is working on.

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal

Hi everyone! I realize this thread is a little old, but currently working on this exact same project. We have detached the shocks from the top and jacked the car as far up as we can. Unfortunately, the tank doesn’t seem to budge past a certain point. We jacked the car up pretty far, but I’m guessin...

Re: What's your most IMPORTANT thing in your tool box?

I don't rrally have a most important thing but I do like my long handled wire cutters and multimeters and test lights are a must have. Impact wrench and long breaker bar are up there too. Same with long extensions and bendable u-joint sockets or adapter. Rarely needed but can't do without when you d...

Re: Re: HELP: 62 LLC 3G Alternator conversion

Stupid question but did you try revving it up a bit while taking voltage? Some alternators don't work at low speeds. But does sound like it's bad based on what you've gone thru.

Re: 1963 OEM Sway Bar Bushings

Yes those worn bushings and end links usually cause clunks at various times and that shaking at that braking. There might be something else worn out too to cause that too like control arm bushings. Definitely worth it to do a look over everything while you're replacing those parts. Even of something...

Re: 1963 OEM Sway Bar Bushings

Or if the holes are in the same spot buy the new brackets with the bushings and save the old ones. My biggest problem with rockauto is a lot of their stuff is from liquidations and buy outs and such. Fine for metal parts but sleezy when you end up with 25 year old ball joints and fan belts with rock...

Re: Mystery Items

Lee I would think you are probably right. Since all 63s had it they would have known of the issue and had the solution to it prior to 63 production so it makes sense that they would have been pro active and started to do it to the later 62s automatically. Thet should mean any cars built after yours ...

Re: Mystery Items

It comes down to availability and ease. Without internet the bags aren't readily available so the easiest choice people had to get their washer going was to hit up a junk yard and find a container from another car that fit. It might not look factory but there is a lot of them running around with a r...
